Many, like Sam Harris and others, preach that free will is an illusion. Scientist, Benjamin Libet, found that the unconscious brain activity of the readiness potential leading up to a person’s movement began approximately half a second before he was aware of a conscious intention to move. How the unconscious brain activity is influenced by our conscious brain is still a myth. In spite that it is not, at least to me, a full prove of the non-existence of free will, is this half a second meaningful to one’s life?

I need a scientific prove that I don’t have a free will to order steak frites or chicken confit at my favorite french restaurant next Saturday. I can prove to you that I do have the free will. If you would say not, prove it.

Such things, as parts of my brain unconsciously make decisions on how high my blood pressure and heard beat should be, do not tell me anything.
